The dinner is not Italian-like and is far too expensive for what it is, especially compared to restaurants close by. Service level of reception and restaurant staff is low, they just don't care about you. Extremely high prices of drinks as well in the pool bar as in general, so you see few people drink something, very unfortunate. Very nice swimming pool, unfortunately not enough beds and poor towel service to no towel service if you come after a biking day at 16.30. Positive about this hotel = very nice property, beautiful garden, safe place (well protected), good parking place as well for cars as for the bikes in the garage. There is a very cosy outdoor swimming pool with lifeguard located in the large garden. The hotel restaurant has regional wine and dishes. This is a mosquito area and it would be appreciated to have a spray in the room. Marzia, the dynamic GM, assigned to us a large bedroom with a bathroom which need renovation, especially the lavabo and shower. The hotel is easily accessible from highway n☊5/E612 however, being open only in summertime, it needs maintenance in several sectors. breakfast could be better If you are not that demanding and have a sense of humour then you may like this place.AMAZING DOMAIN FOR EVENTS Villa Matilde is located about 40 kilometres northeast of Turin in an area called Monferrato which is a renowned wine district and it has also a literary tradition with the 18th century poet Vittorio Alfieri and contemporary writer Umberto Eco.shockingly deteriorated driveway: potholes all over the place."wild parking": if one of the very few spaces in the lot is taken, you park on the partially-mown, unlit, lumpy lawn at the rear - like parking at a music festival.really cheap furniture in the rooms, not at all in keeping with the style of the place.noise - the hotel is basically a big old house and sound insulation is not great if you have neighbors.peeling paint, cracks, big stains in different places in the rooms.Relaxed, laid-back atmosphere Less positive: Positive: old charming historic home with a few acres of land, nice and perfectly-maintained reception rooms, helpful staff. The hotel has a lot of potential but requires more investment to be able to attract more demanding guests. This hotel is in an old historic country home, rather worn-down but with an indeniable charm. She helped make ours a most memorable wedding anniversary.… If you're after a special room it's worth contacting the ever so helpful general manager Marzia Giussani. Our friends had taken over a cancelled booking and were in a much inferior room in the modern annex at the back of the property. The reception rooms in the main building are stunning. The food was excellent and very representative of local specialities and we enjoyed it in the most charming covered courtyard. ![]() The staff could not have been more helpful, from shifting chairs for the aforementioned drinks or helping us arrange parking for cars and trailers (hint: don't try to drive a trailer up to the hotel, there's much more room lower down). Ours was a deluxe room with a private balcony large and high enough for a small group to enjoy a bottle of bubbly whilst over looking the courtyard, the surrounding hills and the ancient roofs of the nearby town. Villa Matilde could not have been better. We needed a hotel, north of Turin, close to a motorway, but special enough for a wedding anniversary.
